Dr. Kate Zhong is the Senior Director of Clinical Research and Development for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health Dr. Zhong brings over 18 years of rich and diversified clinical and pharmaceutical research experience to the Center. With a passion for discovery and a commitment to provide the best treatment for patients, Dr. Zhong is leading the clinical research team by conducting urgently needed trials to advance the prevention, early detection, and treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and Huntington’s disease. With more than 40 drugs and diagnostic trials being conducted at the Center, Dr. Zhong has established the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health as one of the largest and most active clinical research facilities for memory disorders in the country.
Dr. Zhong received her MD degree from West China University of Medical Sciences in Sichuan, China. She earned her Master Degree in Pharmacology and completed her residency in Psychiatry at University of Toronto, Canada. As a Geriatric Psychiatrist, Dr. Zhong has extensive experience in providing treatment and care for patients with neurocognitive disorders. While working as the Medical Director and Seroquel Brand Global Physician for one the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, Dr. Zhong led multiple global clinical trials in CNS therapeutic areas including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and mood disorders.
Dr. Zhong has been a scientific consultant for multiple pharmaceutical, biotech, and patient recruitment companies. Dr. Zhong has provided multifaceted services to industry, academic centers, and health care institutions in the United States, Canada, and Asia. Dr. Zhong works closely with patient advocacy groups, philanthropic organizations, private foundations, and technology companies. She is actively engaged in public education and community activities involving clinical research, healthy aging, and brain wellness.
She serves as one of the founding members of Women Against Alzheimer’s and is a member of International Women’s Forum. She was honored as a “Woman to Watch” and” Alzheimer's Ambassador by Vegas Inc. Magazine. She was featured in the WRIN/VegasPBS documentary “MAKERS: Women in Nevada History,” profiling her as one of Nevada's most influential women. She was recently honored with the Las Vegas Top Tech Exec Award for her creation of Cleveland Clinic healthybrains.org, an innovative interactive digital platform to accelerate clinical trial enrollment and to engage the community to become involved with a brain healthy lifestyle.
